Prosecutors in a German state have announced they will refuse to entertain the majority of file-sharing lawsuits in future. It appears that only commercial-scale copyright infringers will be pursued, with those sharing under 3000 music tracks and 200 movies dropping under the prosecution radar.
It’s bizarre how they always choose arbitrary numbers. You share 3000 songs and you’re a criminal! How about that 300th film? It’s like Muxtape’s song limit, but meaningless, since the limit on songs you can add to your mixed tape is to retain the feel of a limited-length cassette tape.
The bright side of this is that a ton of people who aren’t making money off “pirating” songs won’t be sued.
